Why bother

What solar actually does for a typical home.

A 4kW system on a South-East-facing roof generates around 3,400 kWh a year — enough to cover roughly half a typical household’s needs. Add a battery and that figure climbs to 60–80%.

Lower bills, year-round

35–50% off your electricity bill on solar alone. 60–80% with a battery added. We’ll model your real numbers, not the brochure ones.

Get paid for the excess

5–15p/kWh through the Smart Export Guarantee. We register you for the best available rate — not the supplier’s default.

A real CO2 reduction

Around a tonne a year for a 4kW system. The kind of number a sustainability-minded household can defend.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much can I save with solar panels?

Savings depend on your system size, energy usage, and how much electricity you use during daylight hours. A typical 4kW system saves £500-900 per year. Adding battery storage can increase savings further.

Do solar panels work on cloudy days?

Yes! Solar panels generate electricity from daylight, not just direct sunlight. While output is reduced on cloudy days, modern panels are highly efficient and will still produce electricity.

Do I need planning permission?

Most domestic solar installations fall under permitted development and don't require planning permission. Exceptions include listed buildings and some conservation areas. We advise during your free survey.

How long do solar panels last?

Modern solar panels last 25-30+ years. Our panels come with 25-year performance warranties guaranteeing at least 80% output after 25 years. Inverters last 10-15 years.

What is the Smart Export Guarantee?

The SEG requires energy suppliers to pay you for electricity you export to the grid. Rates vary by supplier (typically 5-15p/kWh). Your installation must be MCS certified to qualify - which ours are.

Should I add battery storage?

Battery storage allows you to use solar energy in the evening, maximising self-consumption. We recommend batteries for households with higher evening usage. Learn more about batteries.
